Licensing

All dogs, cats, and ferrets three months of age or older shall be registered with the city to ensure rapid return to the owner if circumstances warrant. City registration shall be in conjunction with an animal’s rabies schedule, either one year, or three years. Current rabies vaccination certificate must be submitted upon registration. The rabies vaccination certificate shall include the name and address of the applicant, a description of the animal, and proof of a current rabies vaccination.

License Tag

The license tag must be securely attached to the collar or harness of the animal and worn at all times. To get a license you must go to the Environmental Services Unit located at 220 Texas Blvd Room 301 Texarkana, Texas.The fee for licenses are $10.00 for altered animal and $40.00 for unaltered animal. Bring a copy of your pet’s rabies certificate with you to register your animal for tags.  See Sec. 8-3 of the City Ordinances.

Any cat running at large within the city must at all times wear a collar bearing that cat’s city registration tag and rabies vaccination tag.
