Historic LandMARK Preservation Committee


PURPOSE:


The Historic Landmark Preservation Committee recommends certain sites, districts, areas, buildings or structures to be designated as historical.


DUTIES:


The Historical Landmark Preservation Committee:

  • Reviews applications for Certificate of Appropriateness in an open public hearing process and, through a majority vote, either approves or denies the application.
  • Recommends conferral of recognition upon the owners of landmarks or properties within districts by means of plaques.
  • Increases public awareness of the value of historic, cultural, and architectural preservation.


COMPOSITION:


7 Members – 1 member from an institution authorized to make home loans and at least 1 real estate agent.

2 Alternate members

Members and alternates must be residents of the city.

*Each committee member shall serve on at least one of the following sub-committees:  guidelines and standards review, community involvement and marketing, or expansion, preservation, and revitalization.


TERM:


3 year renewable without limitation
